I am delighted to announce the release of my new Concept Cards, created exclusively for the "icon CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY 2026" event. These cards are designed to be a physical manifestation of my artistic vision that you can hold in your hands.
Below is the artist statement included with these cards, reflecting the philosophy behind this collection.
For me, photography is a mirror that reflects myself, and a means of reaching areas that everyday language cannot access.
In the past, I was unable to accept the self reflected in the mirror, and I lived by turning away from it. To fill the absence of a self I wished I could be—but that did not exist anywhere—
I projected that image onto my subjects through the camera as a mirror.
Within these images are not only admiration, but also envy and jealousy—emotions I could not fully process on my own. In my recent work, I construct images by assigning situations and roles to my subjects, allowing them to embody these conditions.
They do not represent an ideal, but instead emerge as proxies that externalize subtle discomforts and unspoken sensations.
For me, photography is a way to hold onto feelings and truths that cannot be fully captured by language, preserving them as they are.
The images that emerge through the camera as a mirror are also records of myself, taking form through the presence of others.
At the same time, they can act as mirrors for the viewer as well,
reflecting the sensations and inner states within each individual.
Photography is a mirror for myself, yet it also serves as a mirror reflecting the inner sensations of each viewer. I hope this statement enriches the dialogue between my work and those who experience it.
