We are pleased to announce the two-person exhibition "Unraveling Vision" by artist Mieko Demura and photographer Misuzu Shibuya at Gallery "Nikai" (Feel Records Kyoto Hanare, Kyoto). In this exhibition, Misuzu Shibuya will showcase a highly anticipated new body of work combining photography and mixed media.

京都・Feel Records 京都はなれ店ギャラリー「にかい」にて、アーティスト・出村実英子氏と写真家・渋谷美鈴による二人展『眼差しをほどく - Unraveling Vision -』を開催いたします。 本展にて、渋谷美鈴は待望のミクストメディアの新作コレクションを 発表・展示いたします。

【Statement / 展覧会について】

Things that are right in front of our eyes yet remain unseen, and things that are the exact opposite of what appears to be visible.

In this exhibition, "Unraveling Vision," artist Mieko Demura and photographer Misuzu Shibuya question "what is visible" through their respective approaches.

Using translucent fabrics and ultra-fine fibers, Demura’s works shift their appearance depending on light, air, and perspective, bringing to light the uncertainty of what we believe we see.

Shibuya’s photographic works depict narratives as a mirror that expresses the self through others, bringing into sharp relief the doubts and conflicts surrounding things taken for granted in this world.

Through what lens do we view the world?

And is what we believe we see truly its actual form?

We hope that through the works of these two artists, you will sense the uncertainty of seeing and the subtle differences in perspective that arise between oneself and others.

目の前にあるのに見えないもの、見えているものとは正反対のもの。本展『眼差しをほどく』では、アーティスト・出村実英子と写真家・渋谷美鈴がそれぞれ異なる方法で「見えているもの」について問いかけます。半透明の布や極細の繊維を用いた出村の作品は、光や空気、視点によって姿を変え見えていると思っていることの不確かさを浮かび上がらせます。渋谷の写真作品は、他者を通しながらも自己を表現する鏡として物語を描き世の中で当たり前のように見えている物事についての疑問や葛藤を浮き彫りにします。私たちが何を通して世界を見ているのか

そして、見えていると信じているものが本当にそのままの姿なのか。二人の作品を通して、見ることの不確かさや

他者との間に生まれる見え方の違いを感じていただければ幸いです。

Born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1988. While studying graphic design, she encountered photography and aspired to become a photographer. She began her activity as a photographer in 2017. In recent years, she has incorporated mixed media into her photographic expressions. 1988年兵庫県生まれ。グラフィックデザインを勉強中、写真に出会いフォトグラファーを志す。2017年より写真家としての活動を開始。近年は写真とミクストメディアを使用した表現を取り入れている。
